What to Expect at Your First Appointment

chiropractor in edina, dr Christopher jo, dr Carrie ClarkWith your first chiropractic visit, you will meet with the doctor to discuss your health history, symptoms, concerns, and potential treatment options. We also deep dive into your overall health goals to help you incorporate chiropractic and wellness into your daily life. Each exam and recommendation is unique and targeted to your individual health, as we have found there is no cookie cutter approach to all patients. A typical physical exam includes neurological, orthopedic, and spinal exams, and frrom there, we may perform a functional exam related to your real-life activities.

For babies, we also perform a full physical, neurological, and orthopedic exam to help rule out any physical condition, as well as a tongue and lip tie evaluation.

Depending on your specific condition, we may take x-rays in the office. The x-rays will help us develop the most effective treatment plan for you, and alert us of any serious spinal conditions.

Once the information is collected and examinations are performed, the doctor will summarize what they have learned and answer any questions you have, including:

  1. How can you help me?
  2. How often do I need to come in?
  3. Does my insurance cover?
  4. What are my home care instructions?
  5. Are dietary or lifestyle changes needed?

As a partnership, you and the doctor will discuss recommendations and appropriate treatment with the goal of supporting the body in proper healing and recovery while addressing the root cause of all your concerns. In addition to chiropractic care, recommendations may include massage, acupuncture, supplements, exercises to do at home, or referrals to other practitioners in the area for labs, blood work, physical therapy, etc.

You will receive a treatment on your first visit. It is interactive so you and your doctor will discuss everything before starting treatment.
